Taco Bell plans to open a new restaurant at Bromma Blocks in November 2026. The opening involves 500 square metres of space and a ten-year lease with Svenska Handelsfastigheter. The chain will take over the former Pizza Hut premises as the retail destination undergoes a wider redevelopment, with new shops and additional retail space.
November opening in former Pizza Hut premises
Svenska Handelsfastigheter announced the new restaurant on 23 October. According to the announcement, Taco Bell is due to open as soon as November. No exact opening date was given, but the size of the premises and the lease term were confirmed.
Property publication Fastighetsvärlden reports that Taco Bell had five restaurants in Sweden at the time of the announcement. The Bromma opening will therefore add another location to the chain’s Swedish network. The publication also confirms that the new restaurant operator will occupy Pizza Hut’s former premises.
The premises are in one of the site’s three dedicated restaurant buildings. According to the landlord, construction and fit-out work is under way to adapt the space to Taco Bell’s operations and concept. This involves preparing an existing restaurant unit for a new chain, rather than simply adding a name to the retail destination’s line-up.
The information released covers the opening, premises and lease arrangements. No local franchisee was named in the announcement. The news should therefore not be read as an offer to take over the operation or as an advertised franchise opportunity.
Ten-year lease for 500 square metres
The lease runs for ten years, and the restaurant will occupy 500 square metres. These figures relate specifically to Taco Bell and should be distinguished from the larger floor areas and lease values reported by Svenska Handelsfastigheter for the wider development of Bromma Blocks.
The landlord primarily highlights how the restaurant will complement the destination’s offering. Malin Norén, property manager and project manager for the development of Bromma Blocks at Svenska Handelsfastigheter, says in the press release:
“We are very pleased to welcome Taco Bell to Bromma Blocks.”
She also emphasises that the opening will strengthen the restaurant offering and help attract visitors. This is the landlord’s assessment of the project; no forecasts for the restaurant’s sales or visitor numbers have been published.
For the franchising community, the announcement is relevant chiefly because it combines a new chain opening, an existing restaurant unit and a long-term lease commitment. The confirmed details establish the location and timetable, but say nothing about the restaurant’s future financial performance.
Part of a wider transformation at Bromma Blocks
Taco Bell’s opening coincides with a broader redevelopment of the retail destination. In June, Svenska Handelsfastigheter announced that retailers including Mio, Power, Jysk and Lidl were preparing to open at Bromma Blocks.
According to the landlord, the newly signed leases together cover around 25,000 square metres of retail space and have a total rental value of approximately SEK 650 million. These figures apply to the combined group of leases, not to Taco Bell’s restaurant. No separate rent figure has been disclosed for the restaurant.
In addition to these agreements, Svenska Handelsfastigheter is creating 7,000 square metres of new retail space. The company also says it is negotiating with both existing and prospective tenants over further premises.
The restaurant will therefore open at a retail destination where other parts of the offering are also changing. The landlord describes developments across categories including home furnishings, groceries, electronics, leisure, restaurants and fashion. Taco Bell is one of several operators involved in this transformation, but has its own imminent opening schedule.
Existing tenants continue to invest
The changes are not limited to new arrivals. According to Fastighetsvärlden, existing tenants continuing to invest in Bromma Blocks include Akademibokhandeln, Lekia, Hemtex, MQ, Lindra and Scorett. New openings are therefore taking place alongside further investment by established businesses.
Svenska Handelsfastigheter’s stated aim is to create a modern, attractive and sustainable retail destination that meets changing customer needs. Taco Bell’s contribution is a new 500-square-metre restaurant, with an opening planned for November and a ten-year lease.
Practical takeaway: For those tracking potential franchise locations, Bromma Blocks is worth watching. However, keep a clear distinction between the confirmed restaurant opening, investment across the wider retail destination and any future opportunities to become a franchisee yourself.
