Raising franchise standards in Sweden
Independent guidance, professional development and a shared code of conduct for franchisors, franchisees and people exploring their next opportunity.

Independent guidance, professional development and a shared code of conduct for franchisors, franchisees and people exploring their next opportunity.
Modern franchising gained a foothold in Sweden during the 1970s, with Swedish companies expanding more strongly through the model in the 1980s and 1990s. The founding of Svenska Franchise Föreningen in 1978 gave the franchise community a national representative organisation. Another important milestone came in 2006, when Sweden introduced legislation on franchisors’ information obligations, placing pre-contract disclosure at the centre of its franchise-specific legal framework.
Sweden’s established franchise community brings together home-grown concepts and international names across retail, food and services. Most franchise companies are of Swedish origin, alongside familiar brands such as McDonald’s, Subway, 7-Eleven and Re/Max. Svenska Franchise Föreningen promotes knowledge and responsible franchising, while supporting networking and collaboration between franchisors and franchisees. For prospective business owners, this creates a varied landscape of concepts to research, rather than a single route into business ownership.
QFA supports the franchise community with a code of conduct, free guidance and professional learning designed to promote responsible growth.

One quality framework, adapted for each national market.
