Silva Gym plans eight new franchises by January 2027

Silva Gym plans to open eight gyms by January 2027, increasing its network from 14 to 22 locations. Founded in Rio de Janeiro in 2023, the strength-training chain intends to expand across four Brazilian states with a model centred on scheduled workouts and close support for members. The plan was outlined in a report published by Top Franchise on 6 November.

Expansion set to increase the network by 57%

The eight planned openings represent growth of approximately 57% on Silva Gym’s 14 operating locations. The openings are scheduled between November 2026 and January 2027, combining new sites in Rio de Janeiro with expansion into markets in São Paulo, Santa Catarina and Minas Gerais.

In addition to these openings, the company says it has 25 contracts under negotiation. That figure represents a different stage of the network’s development: negotiations are not operating gyms, nor should they be added to the eight planned locations as though all were confirmed.

This distinction helps put the announcement into perspective. The current network comprises 14 gyms, the target for January is 22, and the negotiations represent a separate pipeline of potential deals. For those in the franchise sector, tracking each stage makes it possible to assess expansion without confusing commercial intentions with an established presence.

Rio de Janeiro accounts for five of the eight openings

The brand’s home state accounts for most of the announced schedule. Five openings are planned in Rio de Janeiro state: Flamengo and Recreio in November, followed by Barra Olímpica, Península and Nova Iguaçu between December and January.

The schedule covers several locations within the state, keeping Rio de Janeiro as the main destination for new gyms at this stage. The other three planned openings are outside the state, with one each in São Paulo, Santa Catarina and Minas Gerais.

In São Paulo state, the announced site is in Perdizes, a neighbourhood in the city of São Paulo. In Santa Catarina, the expansion includes Itapema. In Minas Gerais, the chosen city is Nova Lima. These are the destinations identified for extending the chain’s presence beyond Rio de Janeiro state.

The timetable should be understood as the company’s forecast. Until the openings take place, 22 locations remains a target rather than the current size of the network. This distinction is particularly relevant when several openings are concentrated within just a few months.

Scheduled workouts underpin the service model

Silva Gym’s strategy goes beyond increasing its number of locations. The chain links its growth to a service model designed to improve member retention through scheduled workouts and close support during strength-training sessions.

According to the Top Franchise report, the aim is not to focus solely on membership numbers. Scheduling and attentive service are central elements of the model the brand intends to introduce at its new gyms.

Member retention is therefore presented as a strategic priority intended to support expansion. This does not, in itself, amount to a proven retention rate or a guarantee of results for future franchises. The announcement describes the operating strategy; its performance still needs to be assessed in the day-to-day running of the gyms.

For anyone considering this format, execution is the key issue: understanding how workout scheduling and member support translate into the team’s daily workload and the experience offered to customers.

Events help build relationships with members

Another initiative highlighted by the chain is Silva Day, a free event featuring group exercise activities, partner promotions and live music. It forms part of the effort to strengthen participants’ connection with the brand beyond their regular workouts.

In this new phase of expansion, close member support and engagement activities sit alongside the opening schedule. They are elements of the model Silva Gym aims to replicate as it extends its geographical reach.

In practice: prospective franchisees should distinguish between operating gyms, planned openings and contracts under negotiation, and check how the service model works before making an investment decision.
