Xfin reaches 41 units and announces 86% network growth

Xfin has announced that its franchise network now has 41 active units following growth of 86%, according to figures released by the company. The update coincides with the launch of a campaign featuring Portuguese comedian César Mourão and refers to signed contracts for a further 70 units, without clarifying whether these represent future openings.

Active units and signed contracts are different measures

The figures were released as part of the credit broker’s new campaign, covered in an article published by Imagens de Marca on 15 October. For those following Portugal’s franchise market, the key figure is the size of the operating network: 41 active units, according to Xfin.

The company reports network growth of 86%. This figure appears alongside its brokerage results for the first nine months of 2026, but should be considered separately from the contracts announced for a further 70 units.

The statement quoted by Imagens de Marca does not specify whether those contracts represent future openings. The 70 units therefore cannot be treated as already operational or added to the 41 active units to describe the network’s current size. No opening timetable was provided for the units covered by those contracts either.

This distinction matters when assessing the brand’s expansion: the active network reflects its reported operational presence, while signed contracts are a separate measure whose scope was not explained in this announcement.

Lending brokered rises 30% to September

In the first nine months of 2026, Xfin brokered €560 million in lending, up 30% on the same period a year earlier, according to the company’s own figures. Over the same period, the average amount brokered rose by 16%, while the number of completed cases increased by 10%.

These three indicators describe different aspects of the business. The total amount represents lending brokered, while changes in the average amount and the number of completed cases help distinguish growth in transaction values from an increase in completed transactions.

The €560 million should therefore not be presented as Xfin’s turnover or as revenue generated by the franchise network. The reported figure refers to the volume of lending arranged through the brand.

Likewise, the aggregate results do not reveal the performance of individual units. The announcement does not provide a breakdown of lending brokered across the network, so it does not support conclusions about individual franchisees’ revenue, productivity or profitability.

Five videos promoting comparison of financial options

The figures accompany a campaign that aims to introduce the verb “xfinar” — coined from the brand’s name — into everyday Portuguese. Starring César Mourão, the campaign uses humour to encourage people to compare options before making a financial decision.

The campaign includes five digital videos built around the question “But… have you Xfin’d it yet?”. They cover mortgages, debt consolidation loans and finance for purchases or home improvements. One of the messages is that the brokerage service is free to customers, according to the brand.

The videos will run in vertical formats on digital platforms and social media until mid-December. The partnership with César Mourão runs for longer, with the collaboration scheduled to continue until December 2027. These are therefore two separate timelines: one for distributing these videos and another for the partnership with the comedian.

What to assess before joining the network

For prospective franchisees, the announcement provides information on Xfin’s operational scale, business growth and brand communications. It does not, however, set out the terms for joining the network or the financial performance of an individual unit.

Practical note: before considering joining, ask for clarification on the scope of the 70 announced contracts, distinguish active units from contracted projects, and request specific information on investment requirements, costs and how the business operates.
