Vakcentrum will celebrate its 50th anniversary in Hilversum, the Netherlands, on Thursday 5 November 2026. Collaboration between franchisors and franchisees is among the topics on the anniversary event’s programme. Franchisenemers Netwerk Nederland (FNN), the Dutch franchisee network, and Vakcentrum are inviting participants to a dedicated session entitled ‘Franchising – get the most out of your franchise relationship’. This gives relationships within the franchise community their own place in the anniversary celebrations.
Discussing collaboration and shared knowledge
The franchise session will be led by Jos Boot, director of VAHFR, the Albert Heijn Franchisees Association. He will discuss collaboration between franchisors and franchisees with participants, with an explicit focus on pooling knowledge and experience.
The announced format is therefore a discussion about franchise relationships, rather than a presentation of a new franchise concept or an expansion of an outlet network. For the Dutch franchise community, its relevance lies in that shared concern: how can both parties make the most of working together, and what can they learn from each other’s experience?
Boot is attending in his capacity as the director of a franchisee association. His planned contribution therefore ties directly into the session’s theme: the relationship between a franchise brand and the business owners operating within it. The title emphasises getting the most out of that relationship, while the announced discussion topics make clear that knowledge-sharing will be central.
Vakcentrum and FNN join forces
Vakcentrum founded Franchisenemers Netwerk Nederland. Both organisations are inviting participants to the session. Rather than being a standalone gathering, the franchise session forms part of the event marking Vakcentrum’s half-century.
This combination gives the gathering two distinct elements. The first is a focused exchange on franchise relationships, including Boot’s discussion with participants. The second is the opportunity to attend the plenary conference afterwards, an option expressly mentioned in the invitation.
For franchisees planning their visit, that distinction is useful. The dedicated franchise session focuses on collaboration and pooling knowledge and experience. The subsequent conference brings together a broader range of announced speakers. Participants can therefore plan their visit around both their own franchise relationship and the wider anniversary programme.
Plenary programme featuring Dutch and European representatives
The announcement lists four speakers for the plenary conference. Thierry Aartsen is named as Minister for Work and Participation. Kim Putters, chair of the Dutch Social and Economic Council (SER), is also on the programme.
Juan Manuel Morales and Tobias Wasmuht have also been announced. Morales is president of EuroCommerce and a board member of Ahoramass. Wasmuht is president of Independent Retail Europe and managing director of SPAR International.
The speaker line-up thus brings together figures from Dutch government and socioeconomic institutions with representatives of European trade bodies and retail organisations. Within that programme, the franchise session has its own clearly defined subject: collaboration between franchisors and franchisees.
Visitors may find it helpful to distinguish between the content of these two elements. Those primarily interested in reflecting on their own franchise relationship can prepare around the themes announced for Boot’s session. Those also attending the plenary conference will hear from the four announced speakers. Their roles indicate the organisations they represent; the franchise discussion remains a separate part of the day.
Date, venue and preparation
The Vakcentrum Anniversary Event takes place on Thursday 5 November 2026 at Oryn in the Media Park in Hilversum. The announced start time is 14:00. The franchise session forms part of the anniversary programme, with the option to attend the plenary conference afterwards.
One practical way to prepare is to formulate a specific question about your own working relationship in advance. What knowledge could be shared more effectively? Which experiences from other business owners might be useful? And which aspect of the relationship would benefit from a discussion with the franchisor? These questions reflect the announced topics without anticipating the content of the session.
Practical takeaway: put 5 November in your diary and bring a focused question about collaboration. This will give the theme ‘get the most out of your franchise relationship’ immediate relevance to your own business.
