Quick is preparing to return to Germany. New companies have been established, but locations and franchise terms have yet to be announced.

Belgian-French burger chain Quick is preparing to return to Germany. According to a report published by L’Express Franchise on 12 October 2026, the company plans to enter Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands from 2027. For those considering the German franchise market, this is a fresh expansion announcement backed by concrete organisational preparations – but with no restaurants identified or entry terms published as yet.
Three companies lay the groundwork for expansion
On 22 June 2026, Quick established three Belgian companies: one each for its planned operations in Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands. This gives the business an organisational foundation in all three target markets. The companies are also authorised to operate Quick-branded restaurants under a franchise model.
Their remit also includes taking over market studies and preliminary negotiations already undertaken. Preparations therefore go beyond a public announcement of a possible market entry. They include work to assess and develop the new markets. However, the report does not identify which German cities or specific properties have been examined.
For Germany, this would be a return rather than a debut: Quick operated there in the 1980s. It also had a presence in the Netherlands at that time. However, those earlier operations offer no basis for inferring its current location strategy or the structure of any future partnership. What matters is the framework under which Quick now intends to relaunch.
Franchising underpins the existing restaurant network
According to the report, Quick has more than 275 restaurants. Around 90 per cent are franchised. Working with independent partners is therefore a core feature of its existing network, rather than simply an additional option for the announced expansion.
For prospective franchisees considering Germany, this high franchise share makes the return worth watching. It shows that the brand already operates predominantly through this business model. However, the figures refer to the existing restaurant network as a whole. They are neither a target for Germany nor an indication of how many restaurants might initially open there.
Nor do they reveal what role individual partners could play in building the German business. Quick has not yet outlined a franchisee profile for Germany. The requirements applicants will need to meet, and how they would join the network, therefore remain unclear. Authorising the new companies to operate franchised restaurants does not answer these questions.
The timeline remains a plan, not an opening date
The report gives market entry from 2027 as the current planning horizon. It also points to differing timelines in earlier publications. While foodservice reported in September 2025 that a launch was planned for 2026, Gondola refers to concrete steps by 2028.
These dates should not be combined into a supposedly firm opening schedule. Compared with the previously cited launch year of 2026, the latest stated horizon is at least a year later. No specific day, month or first German location has yet been confirmed.
This distinction matters when assessing the plans: establishing a company documents a preparatory step, but does not in itself demonstrate that a restaurant opening is imminent. Likewise, “from 2027” describes a planned starting point, not a binding timetable for all three countries. Anyone following the return should therefore look for country-specific announcements rather than assume that the wider expansion will follow an identical course in each market.
What prospective franchisees need to know
Quick has so far announced neither specific locations nor franchise terms for Germany. The published information needed to assess the commercial viability of a potential partnership is therefore still missing. The next meaningful update would be more detail on the German offering, rather than simply another confirmation of the planned return.
Initial location announcements, a clear franchisee profile and the terms of a partnership would be particularly useful. Only then could prospective partners assess whether the concept suits their financial resources, business experience and preferred operating area. The high franchise share across the existing network provides context, but is no substitute for examining the German model.
Practical takeaway: Quick’s plans for Germany are worth monitoring for anyone interested in franchising. Before making a firm decision to invest, however, prospective partners should wait for details of the location strategy, franchisee requirements and contractual terms. Until then, the return remains an expansion project with preparatory work under way – not an available business opportunity with settled terms.
