Moin Sushi: Four Franchise Locations Focus on Smaller Towns

Delivering sushi and bowls without running a dine-in restaurant is the model behind Moin Sushi in north-western Germany. According to a report published by L’Express Franchise on 2 October 2026, the network has comprised four locations since summer 2025, all operated by independent franchisees. Its focus is on smaller towns and communities, rather than solely on major city-centre markets.

From Weyhe-Sudweyhe to Elmshorn

Moin Sushi launched in May 2022 in Weyhe-Sudweyhe, south of Bremen. Locations in Achim and Elmshorn followed, with Delmenhorst becoming the fourth in July 2025. The latest report therefore describes an existing network, not four newly announced openings.

These locations illustrate the concept’s geographical footprint: it started in the Bremen area and now extends into the Hamburg metropolitan region through Elmshorn. The focus on smaller towns is part of its positioning. Rather than offering sushi and bowls only in large city centres with a high concentration of food outlets, Moin Sushi specifically targets deliveries to smaller towns and communities.

For prospective franchisees considering the German market, the ownership structure is particularly relevant. All four businesses are run by independent partners. This is not a predominantly company-operated chain that sees franchising merely as a future addition. Working with independent operators is already integral to the network.

Delivery Rather Than Dine-In

Moin Sushi operates exclusively as a delivery service, with no dining area. Customers can order through its own app or through platforms such as Lieferando and Uber Eats. The network thus combines a proprietary digital ordering channel with a presence on established delivery platforms.

This operating model has different priorities from a restaurant serving customers on the premises. Neither an expensive city-centre location nor space for a dining area is required. According to the report, the cost emphasis shifts instead towards staffing and logistics. Doing away with seating should therefore not be taken as a blanket promise of low operating costs.

This creates a clear priority when assessing a potential location: the focus should be on how the kitchen, delivery area and delivery operation work together, rather than on the number of tables the premises could accommodate. Prospective franchisees should examine the distances a business would need to cover and how to cost the processes involved. These are questions to investigate before joining, not established performance measures for the four existing locations.

The different ordering channels also warrant close attention. Anyone planning to open a business should ask how app and platform orders are brought together in day-to-day operations, and what costs are associated with each channel. A presence on several channels alone says nothing about a location’s profitability.

An Entry Route Without Extensive Hospitality Experience

According to the report, Moin Sushi is also designed to accommodate prospective franchisees without many years of experience in the food service sector. A short training programme is planned, so the opportunity is not aimed exclusively at people who have already run their own food business.

Prospective franchisees should use this as a starting point for a detailed discussion about the scope of training. Which tasks will they practise? How will staff be prepared for their roles? What support will be available after launch? These questions help applicants assess the training against their own experience, without assuming that a short programme means the business will be easy to run.

Applications are submitted through a form on Moin Sushi’s franchise webpage. Applicants can also use this route to check whether territories are available in their chosen region. However, the existing presence in four towns does not automatically mean that every other location in north-western Germany would suit the concept.

What Matters Before Choosing a Location

Moin Sushi presents a clearly defined franchise operating model: a franchisee-run sushi and bowl delivery service focused on smaller towns. The four locations demonstrate its implementation so far, but they are no substitute for an individual assessment of a new delivery area.

Before making a decision, applicants should therefore consider reliable financial projections for the proposed location alongside staffing requirements, logistics costs and the terms attached to each ordering channel. It is equally important to assess how well their own practical preparation matches the planned operation.

Practical takeaway: Anyone considering Moin Sushi as a business opportunity should first establish territory availability, then review the training, delivery arrangements and location-specific financial projections in detail. The deciding factor is not simply the absence of a dining area, but whether a viable delivery business can be planned for the local market.
