FRYGO is seeking franchisees in Spain to expand its automated retail offering through AI-powered smart fridges. The brand advertises an initial investment from €15,000 and a model with no royalties on sales. Its franchise offering combines connected equipment, remote monitoring and a shopping experience that does away with push-button product selection.
A franchise offering alongside other options
According to information published on 4 November by L’Express Franchise España, FRYGO has a dedicated page for recruiting candidates interested in developing a smart vending business. The company describes itself as the official distributor in Spain and Portugal and also offers its equipment for outright purchase or through finance leasing. Franchising is therefore not the only route it offers to access its technology.
The brand says its system has been proven through more than 500 machines operating in Spain and across Europe. That figure refers to the system presented by the company: it should not be interpreted as a count of Spanish franchises or of units run by franchisees.
The distinction between these options matters to anyone considering joining the network. Buying a machine, financing its use and signing a franchise agreement are different decisions, best compared in terms of the support, obligations and services included in each offer.
Initial investment and advertised payback period
FRYGO sets its entry investment at €15,000 and advertises an estimated payback period of 12 to 18 months. These are the brand’s commercial terms and projections, not a guarantee that every location will recoup its investment within that time.
The offering also includes financing, the option to run the business part-time and territorial exclusivity that the company describes as guaranteed. It also states that it charges no royalties on sales. This last condition relates to a specific contractual charge and does not, in itself, mean there are no other operating costs.
To assess the outlay, prospective franchisees should request an itemised quotation and check exactly what the initial investment covers. They should also compare the projected payback period with the expected costs and sales at their chosen location, and review the contractual scope of territorial exclusivity.
Part-time involvement is another advertised option. This should be understood as a feature of the offering: automated payment does not remove the need to manage, maintain or monitor the business.
How shopping from the fridges works
The process described by FRYGO replaces traditional push-button selection with access to a fridge. Customers tap a card or mobile phone on the reader, and the system places a pre-authorisation hold of €5 to €10 before allowing access to the products.
Once the door is open, the customer takes the items they wish to buy. When the door closes, internal cameras identify the products and the system charges the exact amount. The initial pre-authorisation and the final charge are therefore two separate steps in the advertised process.
For operators, the company offers access to a platform with telemetry, analytics and remote control. These tools form part of its remote monitoring offering. When assessing the model, it is worth requesting a demonstration of both the customer experience and the operator platform.
Training and a four-stage launch process
FRYGO promises to supply the machines and a training programme covering management, sales, maintenance and expansion. The offering also includes a dedicated adviser and access to a community of franchisees.
The joining process has four stages: initial information, assessment of the candidate and territory, training, and launch with installation. Assessing the territory is thus presented as a step before trading begins, rather than simply a commercial condition of the agreement.
For candidates, this stage provides an opportunity to review the suitability of the location and establish what support they will receive before and after the equipment is installed. The advertised services and support should be clearly set out in the contractual documentation.
Practical takeaway: before committing to the investment, compare FRYGO’s available entry routes, request a financial breakdown and test the estimated payback period against your own revenue and cost projections.
