Anytime Fitness reaches 56 gyms in Spain with two new franchises

Openings in Figueres and Sabadell bring the network to 56 clubs. The chain remains on course for its target of 60 by the end of 2026.

Anytime Fitness reaches 56 gyms in Spain with two new franchises

Anytime Fitness has reached 56 operating gyms in Spain following the addition of two new franchises in Figueres, in the province of Girona, and Sabadell, in the province of Barcelona. According to company information reported by Europa Press on 19 October, the chain still expects to end 2026 with 60 clubs and more than 60,000 members in the country.

Two openings in Catalonia bring the network to 56 clubs

The new sites in Figueres and Can Llong, a neighbourhood of Sabadell, join the network as franchises. Both openings strengthen Anytime Fitness’s presence in Catalonia, the region where the brand has its largest footprint in Spain.

The key point for those in the franchise sector is that these two additions are franchised centres, rather than company-operated openings. This model enables the brand to expand in Spain by adding new sites operating under its name.

With these openings, Anytime Fitness Iberia reports a total of 56 clubs in operation. This is an operating footprint already achieved, rather than a target for the coming months. That distinction matters when assessing the pace of growth: the two new gyms are already part of the network, while the goal of 60 remains a year-end forecast.

Catalonia accounts for more than 60% of the Spanish network

Of Anytime Fitness’s 56 gyms in Spain, 35 are in Catalonia. The region therefore accounts for more than 60% of the brand’s Spanish clubs, according to figures released by the company.

The Figueres and Sabadell openings reinforce this geographical distribution. The latest growth is taking place in the market where the brand already has its strongest presence, although the two sites are in different provinces: Girona and Barcelona.

This concentration provides a useful reference point for understanding the chain’s current footprint. Its presence in Spain is not spread evenly across the country, but is particularly strong in Catalonia. This is the starting point for Anytime Fitness’s next phase of expansion.

For anyone tracking the development of franchise networks, it is worth considering both indicators together: the total number of clubs nationwide and their geographical distribution. The first shows the scale of the brand; the second identifies where its operating presence is concentrated.

The 2026 target remains 60 gyms

Anytime Fitness still expects to end 2026 with 60 operating clubs in Spain. Compared with the 56 announced in October, reaching that figure would mean increasing the number of operating gyms by four before the end of the year.

Alongside this club target, the company has another goal: to exceed 60,000 members in Spain. These are complementary forecasts, one relating to the size of the network and the other to its membership base. Neither should be mistaken for a result already achieved.

The two new franchises bring the chain closer to its annual target, but the final outcome will depend on how the network develops during the closing months of 2026. For now, the news confirms the Catalan openings and the continued commitment to the announced targets, rather than their early achievement.

Madrid and Andalusia are priorities for 2027

Anytime Fitness’s roadmap for 2027 includes adding clubs across Spain, with a particular focus on Madrid and Andalusia. The company is therefore placing its future priorities outside the region that currently accounts for most of its Spanish gyms.

This direction should be understood as an expansion ambition, not a list of confirmed openings. The announcement identifies areas of interest, while the additions confirmed on this occasion are the franchises in Figueres and Sabadell.

Practical takeaway: when assessing an opportunity within this network, distinguish between operating clubs, annual targets and priority regions. Current figures show its existing footprint; future plans provide a starting point for discussing specific opportunities with the brand.
