Ixina is reducing its store sizes to widen its options for expansion in France. Presented by AC Franchise on 16 October 2026, its new compact format provides for a sales area of no more than 200 m² and a stated investment ceiling of €300,000 excluding VAT. The first two openings, in Langon and Saint-Genis-Laval, already show how this evolution of the model is taking shape.
A smaller store with the same offering
The network, which has 200 stores in France according to the presentation, now offers an alternative to its traditional 400–450 m² outlets. The compact format reduces the sales area to a maximum of 200 m², while retaining the full product range and customer service offering.
The change therefore concerns store size rather than the launch of a separate range. For the kitchen and interior fittings specialist, the stated aim is to make its model accessible with a lower financial commitment.
The stated investment is capped at €300,000 excluding VAT, representing a reported reduction of 33% compared with the standard format. This figure is one of the new concept’s main selling points. However, it should be viewed as a feature of the model presented, rather than a detailed budget that can be applied to every location without further assessment.
For the franchising sector, this development illustrates a practical adjustment to the requirements for joining an established network: opening a smaller outlet without creating a separate commercial offering from that of other stores.
Langon and Saint-Genis-Laval lead the way
The rollout began with a first store opening in Langon on 23 July. A second followed in Saint-Genis-Laval in late August. These are the first two locations cited for the format.
The announced timetable also includes two further openings before the end of 2026, in Clermont-l’Hérault and Saint-Jean-de-Luz. A refurbishment in Les Sables-d’Olonne is also planned. These three projects were still at the announced stage in the information published on 16 October and should not be confused with stores that have already opened.
The compact format is therefore not limited to new stores. The planned refurbishment in Les Sables-d’Olonne shows that it also forms part of plans to adapt the existing estate. The network is targeting both first-time business owners and established franchisees looking to expand their store portfolios.
A wider choice of locations and continued support
The smaller footprint comes with a broader range of potential locations. Ixina cites retail parks, town and city centres, and shopping centres. According to the concept presentation, site selection follows a data-led approach.
This variety does not mean that every small premises will be suitable. Rather, it broadens the types of location the brand will consider beyond a single store model. Prospective franchisees will therefore still need to assess a site’s suitability with the network.
Franchisees operating the compact format are expected to receive the same support as those running traditional stores. This includes access to Ixina’s Bourse aux Talents talent programme, as well as the brand’s recruitment and training schemes. Under the announced model, the smaller sales area does not come with a separate or reduced support package.
Sales potential is not the same as proven results
Ixina states that the concept has the potential to generate annual turnover of €2 million or more excluding VAT, with a team of no more than four kitchen designer-salespeople. This is the concept’s stated potential: it is neither a result recorded at the first two stores nor a performance guarantee.
This distinction matters when assessing the opportunity. A smaller footprint and lower initial investment do not, on their own, establish a store’s future profitability. The information presented does not yet include operating results from the first locations.
Key takeaway for prospective franchisees: the compact format offers a new route into Ixina. Before committing, it remains essential to clarify what the stated investment covers, the staffing requirements and the sales assumptions specific to the proposed location.
