Two new restaurant brand filings have been reported in China’s franchise sector. According to market news published on 31 October, China’s Ministry of Commerce website shows that Beijing Xizhiwu Catering Services Co., Ltd. and Xiamen Hongwei Jinshifang Catering Co., Ltd. completed franchise filings on 29 October 2026, covering the Baofuji and Chamachuan brands respectively.
Baofuji: filing made by Beijing Xizhiwu
The franchise brand recorded in Beijing Xizhiwu Catering Services Co., Ltd.’s filing is “device mark and 宝福纪BAOFUJI”. For prospective franchisees considering the brand, the full brand name and company name are essential details to check against any proposed agreement.
Citing business information platform Tianyancha, the report states that the company was established on 21 June 2023. Its legal representative is Zhang Chaohui, its registered capital is RMB 100,000, and its principal business is catering. Its registered address is Unit F121 within Unit 501, Ground Floor, Building 5, Compound Yi 2, Shilibao, Chaoyang District, Beijing.
The company registration details and the brand’s franchise filing should be checked separately: the former identify the legal entity, while the latter confirm the franchise brand disclosed in this filing. A shop sign alone is not enough to identify the party with whom a franchisee would be signing a contract.
Chamachuan: filing includes two trade mark numbers
The franchise brand recorded in Xiamen Hongwei Jinshifang Catering Co., Ltd.’s filing is “茶马川 + registered trade marks Nos. 59221584 and 59209228”. Compared with the brand’s short name alone, these trade mark numbers provide more specific reference points for checking brand authorisation documents.
Citing Tianyancha, the report states that the company was established on 29 December 2016. Its legal representative is Zhang Zhangxia, its registered capital is RMB 1 million, and its principal business is catering. Its address is No. 4666-1075, Xianyue Road, Huli District, Xiamen.
Prospective franchisees are advised to cross-check both trade mark numbers against the brand authorisation details in franchise marketing materials and contract annexes, rather than simply confirming that the Chinese brand name “茶马川” matches.
Filing authorities depend on the geographical scope of operations
Both reports cite Article 3 of China’s Measures for the Administration of Commercial Franchise Filing, which identifies the Ministry of Commerce and the commerce departments of provincial, autonomous regional and directly administered municipal governments as the authorities responsible for commercial franchise filings.
Franchisors operating within a single province, autonomous region or directly administered municipality must file with the relevant commerce department where the franchisor is based. Those conducting franchise activities across these administrative boundaries must file with the Ministry of Commerce.
When checking a filing, prospective investors should therefore consider the geographical scope of the franchisor’s operations. A company’s registration in Beijing or Xiamen alone does not establish where it is actually recruiting franchisees.
From filing records to due diligence
These same-day filings provide a clear reference point for identifying the two restaurant businesses and their franchise brands in China. The companies differ in their establishment dates and registered capital, but these registration details should not be treated as direct measures of outlet profitability or the quality of support from head office.
Practical tip: before entering discussions, record the full filed brand name, company name and any trade mark numbers, then check the contracting party, payment recipient and authorisation documents. Investment budgets and operating assessments require a separate review of the fee schedule, outlet conditions and contractual responsibilities.
