Agofa, a chocolate maker based in Rafaela, Argentina, is preparing to open its fourth shop in Rosario while planning to build a factory of its own with more than twice the floor space it currently occupies. The brand, whose three existing Rosario outlets operate as franchises, is combining the expansion of its retail presence with a project to scale up production.
A new address for the brand in Rosario
According to a report published by Punto Biz on 16 October 2026, Agofa is preparing a new outlet at the corner of Moreno and Mendoza streets. It will join the brand’s existing shops in the Portal and Paso del Bosque shopping centres, as well as its premises at Balcarce 34 bis.
All three existing outlets operate as franchises. The planned addition will expand the chocolate maker’s presence in Rosario, where it already combines shopping centre locations with a standalone shop.
The distinction between the outlets already trading and the planned opening is important: the news is that a fourth outlet is in preparation, not that it has opened. For the franchise sector, the case illustrates how a brand originating in a regional city in Santa Fe province is continuing to reach other markets within the province.
A factory of its own to support growth
The other strand of the project concerns production. Agofa plans to build its own factory with more than twice its current floor space. The initiative is linked to a new phase in the business, which gained momentum through the production of alfajores, a type of filled sandwich biscuit popular in Argentina.
The company produces both artisan and industrially manufactured chocolates. It began as a way to earn extra income and developed into a manufacturing business now seeking to expand both its infrastructure and its retail network.
The floor-space figure indicates the scale of the building project, but does not in itself mean production capacity will double. These are different measures: having more space does not establish how many additional units the company will be able to produce, or how soon it might reach that output.
What has been confirmed is the intention to move to a larger factory of its own. Alongside the new outlets, this decision defines the two strands of the announced growth: production and retail. For anyone assessing a food franchise, the relationship between the two deserves attention, as retail expansion requires supply arrangements capable of supporting the network.
Expansion across Santa Fe and into other provinces
Rosario is not Agofa’s only market. Its expansion also extends to the city of Santa Fe, Sunchales and Funes. Beyond Santa Fe province, the brand has a presence in Entre Ríos and Córdoba.
This footprint places its growth across several regional markets in Argentina, rather than confining it to a single location. The planned Rosario shop forms part of a wider geographical expansion, now accompanied by the proposed production facility in Rafaela.
The company is also looking north, with Tucumán emerging as a possible next destination. This is an option under consideration, not a confirmed opening. Maintaining that distinction separates the brand’s existing presence, outlets in preparation and future possibilities, rather than presenting them all as completed developments.
What to examine when assessing a franchise
Agofa’s plans highlight an important point for those following franchise opportunities: a brand’s growth can involve new outlets and investment in production infrastructure at the same time. Both should be assessed together, even if they follow different timetables.
When evaluating the business opportunity, it is worth asking how supply is organised, what support each outlet receives and what terms govern its operation. It is also important to distinguish announced investments from facilities already available, and possible destinations from openings to which the business has firmly committed.
Practical takeaway: before proceeding with a franchise, compare the expansion plan with the specific supply and support arrangements offered to the outlet. For Agofa, the next milestones to watch are the opening at Moreno and Mendoza and progress on its own factory.
