Harcourts NZ joins first trans-Tasman auction campaign

Harcourts New Zealand and Harcourts Australia will run their first joint auction campaign from 25 January to 7 February 2027, bringing participating offices together under a shared timetable. Named Your Day, the initiative gives the two networks a common focus while retaining an emphasis on local property market conditions.

A shared timetable for auctions

According to Elite Agent, the campaign will see properties go to auction across late January and early February, with participating offices in both countries working towards the same campaign window. The announcement marks the first coordinated trans-Tasman auction campaign for the two Harcourts networks.

Adrian Knowles, chief executive of Harcourts Australia, said the initiative brings the networks together behind a shared objective for the first time. It is designed to give offices a common focus heading into the new year, rather than leaving each participating office to work to an entirely separate campaign calendar.

The distinction between a joint campaign and a single auction event matters. Your Day covers a period of two weeks, with properties going to auction throughout that window. It should therefore be understood as a coordinated programme, not one auction held simultaneously across both countries.

The campaign has already attracted support from offices on both sides of the Tasman. Participation is described at office level, so the announcement should not be read as confirmation that every Harcourts office or every property listed with the brand will be involved.

Local conditions remain central

For New Zealand offices, the shared timetable sits alongside a continued focus on individual markets. Shane Cortese, national auction manager for Harcourts New Zealand, said the campaign allows offices to build engagement with buyers and sellers while staying focused on local conditions.

“Bringing the two networks together creates a great opportunity to share that focus across Australia and New Zealand,” Cortese said.

“Ultimately, the aim is to help our offices create opportunities for their clients and give buyers and sellers a clear path forward.”

Those comments frame Your Day as an opportunity to support client engagement, rather than a prediction about auction results. A common campaign period does not, by itself, establish how many properties will sell or what prices they will achieve.

For New Zealand’s franchise community, the initiative illustrates how a network can coordinate an activity across national borders while leaving room for local circumstances. The shared element is the campaign focus and timetable; Cortese’s comments place local market awareness alongside that coordination, rather than treating Australia and New Zealand as one uniform property market.

Donation applies to Australian sales only

The campaign also includes a charitable component, but its geographical scope is specific. For every eligible Your Day sale in Australia, Harcourts will donate $100 to Orange Sky through the Harcourts Foundation.

Orange Sky provides free laundry and shower services for people experiencing homelessness. The donation commitment applies to Australian sales only and should not be presented as a benefit attached to New Zealand transactions.

That distinction is particularly important in a campaign carrying a shared name across two countries. New Zealand buyers and sellers may encounter information about the wider initiative, but the Australian donation arrangement is separate from the auction campaign’s trans-Tasman reach.

What New Zealand clients should check

For buyers and sellers considering the campaign, the practical starting point is their local Harcourts office. They should establish whether that office is participating and whether a particular property is included, rather than assuming the shared campaign name applies to all listings.

Sellers can also ask how their proposed auction timing fits within the 25 January to 7 February window and how the office intends to approach their local market. Buyers should confirm the arrangements for the individual property they are interested in.

Practical takeaway: Treat Your Day as a coordinated auction window, not a guarantee of results. Confirm local participation and property-specific arrangements, and remember that the $100 charitable donation applies only to eligible Australian sales.
