Quadratín recognised for its franchise expansion

Quadratín has received an award from the Latin American Franchise Institute (ILAF) for its track record as a news agency franchise and its international growth. Presented on 22 October 2026 in Mexico City, the award follows the news network’s expansion into the United States, with operations in New York, New Jersey and California.

Recognition for the news network

According to information published by Quadratín, ILAF recognised it as the most significant news agency franchise in the Americas. Francisco García Davish, the organisation’s managing director and founder, received the award during the 10th Latin American Franchise Congress.

The ceremony took place at a gala dinner at the Naval Club in Mexico City, following the congress’s working sessions. The event brought together business representatives from 16 countries across the Americas, placing the presentation within a forum for exchange among the region’s franchise community.

The description reflects the distinction awarded by ILAF. The announcement links the award to Quadratín’s international growth and its development through a franchise model, rather than operating as a news agency in a single territory.

From New York and New Jersey to California

The international expansion highlighted by the award has two specific milestones. In 2025, Quadratín strengthened its expansion into the United States by launching Quadratín Hispano in New York and New Jersey. Quadratín California subsequently began operating in September 2026.

These launches are the developments identified in the announcement. The network also plans to enter other US states, Central America and South America. Those destinations form part of its growth plans, rather than confirmed launches in the published information.

The distinction between operations already launched and future projects is important when assessing the scope of the news. The US presence described already includes Quadratín Hispano and Quadratín California; the next phase of expansion remains an intention, with no timetable for further launches given in that announcement.

For those interested in Mexico’s franchise market, the case offers an example of international expansion in a sector beyond retail or food service: the production and distribution of news. The award draws attention to this application of the franchise model.

A model intended to preserve local identity

In accepting the award, García Davish described Quadratín as a franchise that crosses borders with the aim of bringing communities closer together. He explained that its purpose is to share journalism that listens to and reflects the realities of each place where the network operates.

The founder also highlighted the contribution of Martín Bojórquez, head of Franquicia tu Negocio. He credited Bojórquez with identifying the potential to structure Quadratín as a franchise network, expanding its capabilities while preserving local identity in each territory.

This approach sets out the central principle of the model described by the agency: growing as a network without losing each operation’s connection to its local community. It is an objective expressed by its managing director, not a measure of editorial or commercial results.

García Davish dedicated the award to journalists, contributors, partners and readers. His remarks thus acknowledged both those involved in producing the news and the people that journalism serves.

What the franchise community can learn

The news combines institutional recognition with a clear sequence of expansion. For those following Mexico’s franchise market, its interest lies in showing how a news agency uses franchising to establish a presence in new territories, with local identity forming part of its stated proposition.

Practical takeaway: when assessing an expansion story, it is worth separating completed launches, outstanding plans and awards received. In Quadratín’s case, these three elements help explain the progress announced without mistaking institutional recognition for a guarantee of results in future operations.
