Anytime Fitness Australia has recognised franchisees, managers and trainers at its annual conference, bringing together more than 900 attendees from across the country. The three-day gathering capped a year of network growth, with the brand reporting more than 800,000 members across 647 Australian clubs.
National awards recognise long-term contribution
Multi-unit franchisee Jordan Ross was inducted into the brand’s Hall of Fame at the national awards gala. The recognition acknowledged his 15 years of commitment, leadership and contribution across the Anytime Fitness network.
Greg Cromie and Juan Cruz received the Franchisee of the Year award. Their recognition centred on member experience, club culture and collaboration across the network, according to the awards report published by Franchise Executives on 21 October.
Together, these awards highlighted two different aspects of franchise ownership: a sustained contribution over many years and the day-to-day work of creating a strong club experience. Both placed franchisees’ involvement in the wider network alongside their responsibilities within individual businesses.
For Australia’s franchise community, the distinction is useful. The announced honours recognised not simply ownership or longevity, but how franchisees support members, work with colleagues and contribute beyond their own locations.
Victorian and Queensland clubs take honours
Anytime Fitness Truganina in Victoria, associated with Christian Clark, was named Club of the Year. The club was recognised for its member experience, inclusive community atmosphere and attention to team wellbeing.
The award’s emphasis extended beyond the customer-facing experience to the people delivering it. Team wellbeing was explicitly included alongside the welcoming environment created for members, making staff support part of the club’s recognised achievement.
In Queensland, Anytime Fitness Toowoomba, associated with Matthew Doughty, received Most Improved Club of the Year. Its recognition followed an operational refresh, work to strengthen its local reputation and a revitalised member experience.
The two club awards offered contrasting examples of achievement within the same network. Truganina was recognised for the quality of its overall club environment, while Toowoomba’s award acknowledged improvement and renewal. For operators reviewing their own businesses, the categories provide different reference points: maintaining high standards and making meaningful operational changes.
Managers and trainers share the spotlight
Marlena Curnus of Anytime Fitness Frenchs Forest in New South Wales was named Club Manager of the Year. She was recognised for creating a welcoming, community-driven environment and for her supportive leadership within the network.
Queensland’s Sandy King received Regional Manager of the Year. The award acknowledged her hands-on leadership, high operational standards and work to build a thriving community for members and staff.
Personal Trainer of the Year went to Josaphine Lock of Anytime Fitness Brighton in South Australia. Her recognition focused on dedication to member success and support for clients pursuing fitness and lifestyle goals both inside and outside the gym.
Shannon Harris, a regional manager in New South Wales, received the BELONG Award. The award recognised her demonstration of the brand’s BELONG values: Be Human, Empathise, Listen, Opportunity, Now and Genuine, both within clubs and in the community.
These honours broadened the gala’s focus beyond franchise ownership. Club management, regional support and personal training each featured as distinct contributions to the member experience, with welcoming environments and supportive leadership recurring across the award descriptions.
Conference follows national brand recognition
The annual conference brought franchisees and club managers together with other attendees from across Australia. The network’s reported scale now stands at 647 Australian clubs, while Anytime Fitness has more than 6,000 locations worldwide.
The internal awards also followed external recognition. In September, Anytime Fitness Australia was named Franchise Group/Brand of the Year at the 2026 AUSactive National Awards.
Against that backdrop, the conference placed individual operators and teams in the spotlight. Its winners represented achievements ranging from a 15-year franchise contribution to a local club refresh and support for individual training clients.
Practical takeaway: franchise owners and managers can use the recognised themes as prompts for their own reviews—member experience, team wellbeing, operational standards and network collaboration—rather than treating growth in club numbers as the only measure of progress.
